THE EAST CLANDON NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN
"Embracing Tradition, Enabling Tomorrow: Our vision for our cherished rural community is to sustain and protect our serene landscapes, nurturing our conservation area status and preserving the timeless essence that defines us. Through a thoughtful Neighbourhood Plan, we aspire to honour our heritage while selectively allowing some housing stock modernisation to accommodate the needs of future generations. Striving for harmonious coexistence, creating a sustainable haven that welcomes families and progress while safeguarding our rural charm."

WHAT IS A NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN?
A planning document created by a parish or town council or a neighbourhood forum, which sets out the vision for the neighbourhood area, and contains policies for the development and use of land in the area. Neighbourhood plans must be subjected to an independent examination to confirm that they meet legal requirements, and then to a local referendum. If approved by a majority vote of the local community, the neighbourhood plan will then form part of the statutory development plan.

Not everything we want can be achieved with a Neighbourhood Plan. The National Plan and Guildford’s Local Plan cannot be overridden, but we can make unique policies that matter to our local community. Completing the questionnaire greatly helps the Parish Council understand the wishes of villagers.
WHY MAKE A NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN?
In common with all of our neighbouring parishes, East Clandon Parish Council has decided to begin the process of developing their own Neighbourhood Plan.
The Neighbourhood Plan enables villages to take more control over how their areas develop in the future.
Once a Neighbourhood Plan has been agreed and filed with Guildford Borough Council, every planning application or other development will have to take this into account for the next 15 years,
Just like National and Local Plans, A Neighbourhood Plan HAS to be developed in consultation with residents and other local Stakeholders.
